CROPPED GREYS

Hey everyone. I hope you’re all well. I’m sorry, I’ve been absent lately. I’ve just been busy working and just wanted some time off to myself – everybody needs that time to themselves… But I do have some exciting things coming along your way. First of all, I want to introduce these cropped trousers that I designed myself. It’s a piece from my final collection that I put together in my final year at university. The collection was influenced by traditional Japanese Origami; I searched for perfection through the exploration of texture, formation, shape and structure. These trousers are inspired by the folds and clean lines that are typically characterised in Japanese origami. The work of the Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto had set a standard for me to produce high quality, contemporary pieces for
the modern woman with fabric as a focus.

I absolutely love shirts… Especially the cuffs and cufflinks. I used the idea of cuffs from a shirt and manipulated it by adding that idea to cropped trousers. We’ve all seen culottes, palazzos, ribbed trousers. Now we’re getting flares and frills coming in. I wanted to design something different. I’m quite androgynous and minimalistic when it comes to my clothing so I kept the trousers plain and simple. Also using 100% wool is a bonus – the fabric of the trousers is just so soft. It fits well and is comfortable.

I will be selling these trousers as a one off piece; this is only due to me working in Spain and not having access to all the facilities and equipment needed to make more. However, if you are interested – I am happy to compromise and make a pair once I am back in England. If any enquiries, please email madiyaswardrobe@gmail.com

I will introduce more pieces from my collections and other items that I create soon. And as I said “A lot of exciting things coming along your way” – so stay tuned!

Yours sincerely, Madiya’s Wardrobe.
